What do you think of GW faction
As you may have notice, the latest update gave us a preview of Guild Wars Factions, I spend the most of yesterday checking it out. And I must say, damn this sucks! The whole thing about Player Vs. Bots/npc is just stupid, and you get faction for it! Now every newb can create uber pvp chars... Things as faction and fame should be for the high skilled PvP player only(as it was before). Well that it's just what I think, what do you guys think ?

I think you (Qual) are very wrong as well.
The new 'training arenas' are just perfect for new players who are unfamiliar to Player versus Player combat.

where do i go to unlock these uber pvp skills and weapon mods, i have been playing for 7 months and never ran across such things.... but then again this might be the secret of all the top guilds :P.
but really, easy faction from killing bots will let newbs get up-to-par with other players in terms of skills and weapon mod unlocking. me and i bet hundred of thousands of PvP players have had everything unlocked a long time ago

If you don't like the new area then just don't go there. But yet this is only a taster of whats to come, i believe there will be hundreds of tweaks to factions just as there were for the original GW when it was first released. Now that doesn't mean that the tweaks will be in our favor, many of them won't but all im saying is don't judge the new expansion before you've really experienced what it has to offer. I also have my concerns about the update, but they are minor, and im rather happy with the new area, and would be willing to explore it with an open mind and see what it has to offer before dishing out the dirt.

I'm always amazed at how after weeks of advertising and promoting ppl still miss the point.
The responses are right this is for ppl like me who have a lot of PvE experience, but need to learn the basics of PvP combat. This is a great trainging tool. This is the new Pre searing PvP. And this is a preview of what is to come.

I believe that you may not have thought this through. With it set this way, those that may not have given PVP a chance get to work their way through content, and perhaps gain a better understanding of how PVP works.

Factions is the expansion, not the preview weekend.
Have I seen anything that makes me want to buy the expansion? Not at all. But this doesn't have everything factions will have.

I enjoyed it, counter to the OP. Nothing personal...like other things in life, it's just taste. On a side note, I must admit I was surprised about the amount of faction a person can get in p vs npc. I farmed some faction on the first challenge, which i easily did with my 55 monk and npcs, to see how long I could keep collecting faction. It looks like it is indefinite. This is definitely going to need to be resolved by Anet in my opinion.
Conceptually and in layout/design, I love it. Can't wait for the whole thing to be available.

Is faction even an issue?
I've only been doing pvp for a few days and I've already unlocked everything I need through random arena even before the npc pvp. It takes 2 days to level up a pve character and unlock all the skills you want, so faction is quite pointless.

Umm....unless you're purchasing money from ebay, this is absolutely not true. I have hundreds of hours in the game and I still haven't unlocked everything there is. Even with unlimited money, there are items that take just blind luck to find to unlock (such as weapon mods, which you'd have to buy off of someone unident and hope that it's the item you're looking for).
Maybe you feel that you're char is "ok" with the quick skills you can unlock. But me personally, I'm trying to unlock everything so all of my options are open. By farming faction, it makes it very easy to unlock all items (at 25 faction a pop, with bonus faction for flawless, which is seriously easy with a 55 monk). I farmed faction for about an hour and gained about 5k+ of faction.

Theres no reason at all you'd need ebay to unlock the skills you need and most of the runes. Anything thats expensive to buy can be bought with faction, and faction is extremely easy to make in pvp.
I haven't unlocked everything there is, but I have unlocked everything I need to use and things that would cost a lot in pve. I'm already using it for things I'll probably never need just because I may as well do something with it.

When the isles where 1st released, yes bots yielded fame. But when the assassin/rit classes rolled out with the next update, this was removed. Bots do not offer fame anymore.

I've only had PvE characters so far, my ventures into PvP being somewhat--shall we say--sucky, so for me, the training venues are a godsend. I never played any online games before GW, so I truly was completely clueless about PvP.
I spent sometime in the practice area yesterday after work, and had a blast. I now have a better handle on what's required.
Maybe there's a tad of insecurity about people not liking the idea, if you think a little practice is going to make the players you can defeat so good that they'll be able to defeat YOU, sure you're not going to like it.

First impressions of Factions
Been many months since I played guild wars. Quake 4 eating my time, Dystopia is eating my time, and so is my job.
So I heard about this new thing called Factions that recently gave a sneak peek today to an old GW buddy of mine. I downloaded and see for myself.
Wasn't really too fond with the interface, but it's probably because I'm so used to the old one anyways. Still, I can see it being much more helpful to new players of the game then old, and they are trying to gain an audience.
I really liked the pseudo-tutorial in the beginning, and I finally GET to see what the area those 'ranges' mean on the skill description. Again, much more helpful to newbs. It even talks about body blocking!
The new classes are freaking great also. Assassin is pretty much the uber melee class, however they can be countered easier (if not more easier) then warriors. To be honest, if you want to deal an insane amount of damage as a melee opponent, I really don't see the point of being a warrior now. They don't need to build up ald either.
The ritualist is a really unique class that seems to be 'master of all trades' in terms of casting, somewhat similar to the ranger. The weapon spells are a nice touch and the spirits can really determine the battlefield. The +3 health regen is a huge plus on any team, especially with condition spammrs like bleeding or poisoning.
My only problem is...well, go to the 'new tombs' area and see for yourself. NOTHING has changed at all. I still see spamming for IWAY or spirits, and no one takes an assassin (ritualsits are taken because they do healing). It really sucks because we have two new classes, one being really sick at melee, and the other healing in a different style, but they still won't be taken because it isn't flavor of the month.
I would've been back into GW in a major way and bought the expansions, if it weren't for the flavor of the months. Looking at the chat, ti's almost the same exact thing as months ago, only with a different area. Not many people are taking assassin unless it is a random pug.
I'm really interested in this, but as usual, it's not the game that's the problem, it's the players.

Quoted for truth. I've realized there wouldn't be a need for nerfing if there wasn't the damn FOTM, if people ACTUALLY had willingness to try new things, then instead of "balance" we'd just have a bunch of really cool builds to fool around with til we got around to making our own.

Well, theres not much to get excited about with the preview. PvP training, 2 new classes to try. Thats it. Hopefully the expansion will have a lot more to offer.

Assassins=new wammos
9 assassins out of 10 are complete morons: they rush miles away from the monk, dont ress and use pathetic builds.
There are good assassins out there, but the absolute majority of them are idiot.
